Peace of Mind, On Your Terms
Waiting for a health emergency before scanning the body will one day be obsolete. Prenuvo fundamentally changes how we identify and manage cancer, shifting from a wait-and-see approach to fast, definitive answers about our health when we want them.
Decide When You Get Answers About Your Health
At Do Cancer, we have a front-row seat to how many kinds of people get cancer. Apart from the rare few with a known genetic predisposition, they are of all ages and races, and diagnosed with cancers they have never heard of before. One in three of us will get cancer in our lifetime, and it can strike anyone.
The good news is that there has never been a better time to receive cancer treatment, as advances are unfolding rapidly. But when you discover cancer makes all the difference. Cancer is a disease of progression: the earlier you catch it, the less treatment you will need and the better your chance of survival. Virtually all cancers are survivable if found early.
I learned this the hard way, through the loss of friends and Do Cancer members who were diagnosed too late. That is why Prenuvo is core to my annual healthcare routine, and why we at Do Cancer recommend Prenuvo to healthy people, those in a health crisis, and those navigating cancer survivorship.
Before a Health Crisis
I am surrounded by people who received a cancer diagnosis out of the blue, many well under 40. My sister and Co-Founder was diagnosed with two types of cancer at 34. My friend and Co-Founder was diagnosed with stage 4 glioblastoma at 36. I regularly talk to hundreds of young people in our Do Cancer Program who were the picture of health before being plunged into a medical crisis.
Cancer doesn't strike on a timeline. Because I know this is true, I choose not to let an insurance company dictate when I can get a test about my own health, and I've been fortunate enough to take matters into my own hands with Prenuvo.
Although I am healthy, my yearly Prenuvo scan quiets the internal chatterand fear about my health, especially as I age. I don't have to wonder whether I have any emerging issues - I know. I have definitive evidence that I am free of the 500+ cancers and other conditions Prenuvo identifies. This has stamped out anxiety about my health.
I advocate passionately for this because we live in a society where insurance rules dictate access to diagnostic testing, haphazard online content fuels a damaging culture of self-diagnosis, and everywhere you click there's someone ready to sell you a health hack. The mixed messages about what potentially causes cancer, what can “prevent” cancer, and what age is appropriate for testing are muddy at best. Prenuvo allows me to sidestep the noise as its become part of my yearly medical appointments.
During and After a Health Crisis
While proactive screening is likely the most common use of Prenuvo, the technology is also a great option for people who are in cancer treatment or have completed it. We recommend Prenuvo to Do Cancer members who have been denied coverage for a full-body MRI as part of their cancer diagnosis. The peace of mind that full-body imaging provides during a cancer crisis is critical, and it is not always granted. Prenuvo is an option for those with the resources to access it.
A difficult and overlooked part of the cancer journey is the "what now?" phase, when treatment ends and the constant, reassuring exams and tests end too. Patients are told to go back to "normal" and live their lives, no longer under the microscope that has become a comfort to them. Crippling fear and anxiety can set in once the flurry of treatment suddenly stops. Navigating survivorship can often be, surprisingly, the hardest part of cancer.
Many survivors have no follow-up testing beyond a yearly check-in with their doctor. When they ask for regular diagnostic scans as maintenance, they are typically denied and left worried that a recurrence will strike. We recommend Prenuvo to survivors in the Do Cancer Program who want more from their post-cancer maintenance plan. It is empowering for survivors to control when they get information about their health, regain trust in their bodies, and ease their health anxiety.
Beyond cancer, Prenuvo can detect other conditions, such as aneurysms. My husband survived an arteriovenous malformation (AVM) rupture at 38, something he never knew was lurking in his body. He was never granted a full-body MRI or CT scan during his months-long health crisis, and we wanted to know whether he had any other vascular threats. Prenuvo was a welcome option. His annual full-body scan confirms that his vascular system, and the rest of his body, is healthy. It removes worry, and it lets him stay ahead of any emerging issues.
Yes, You Do Want to Know
One of the most common things I hear when I recommend Prenuvo is, "I don't think I want to know."
Yes. You do want to know.
Knowledge about your own health is the key to solving problems as quickly as possible. If you would accept medical treatment for a condition, then the more information you have and the earlier you have it, the better. You would much rather have early stage cancer that requires relatively little treatment, such as surgery or medication, than stage 3 or 4 cancer that has spread, requires months or years of chemo, radiation, and surgery, and poses a much greater threat to your life.
Not wanting information about your health is saying you'd rather have a big problem than a small one. If the technology exists and you are lucky enough to have access to it, use it.
The Future of Medicine Is Proactive
Every cancer journey is unique, but many share the same themes. One of the most common is how long it took to get diagnosed after knowing "something wasn't right." I cannot emphasize enough how many people share that they knew something was off but were dismissed, given the runaround, or told they were too young or not "at risk enough" to warrant a diagnostic test. Doctors are dedicated to their patients, but the larger system they work in can buckle under outdated processes.
Waiting for a health emergency to warrant a medical scan will one day be obsolete. Until preventive technology is a standard part of care, take control into your own hands. A simple, comfortable Prenuvo scan gives you a complete picture of exactly what's going on in your body, emergent or not, at any time.
Prenuvo is the future of healthcare. It is a powerful tool for staying on top of your health, whether you are being proactive or monitoring an issue. Do Cancer is grateful to be able to recommend it to our patients in and out of the cancer battle, and to our healthy, proactive supporters.
